Members content goes live today. I hope this brings lots of enjoyment for your weekend and a new nice race for highscores, achievements and all the good stuff.

There is lots of new content going live. If you see any issues please create a support ticket in-game. It may be quite busy, and a ticket is the most efficient way to get help.

Today is not only introducing members content, there were also lots of refinements that had been overlooked before, which bring us closer to the original game in several ways. More on those below.

Our approach to P2P and replica changes

When choosing what to release in P2P and how it compares to replica or REV1, we have made the decision to start with replica, and as with other things, this is not set in stone and can be adjusted later. But for launch we are going with the good old defaults. We invested time into adding interesting mechanics that were not done for REV1. We hope that the quest and content experience will be richer and more fun.

Changes towards replica logic

While working on P2P and going deeper into the files, their values and formulas, we caught more discrepancies that were not sorted before launching the server. With the P2P release we are pushing changes that bring timings and chances related to production and collection skills more in line with the original. This means that, for example, the chances for burning a fish or chopping a tree will be more authentic and depend more on the tool used and your level than they did before.

Shops camping solution

Today we are releasing a solution for the issue where players "camp" shops and it becomes difficult to compete for shop stock. From today, in most shops that have stock in high demand, each player in the shop sees their own share of the available stock.

For example, if there are two players in a shop with 50 runes and they buy out all of them, as the shop restocks it gives 1 rune to one player, then on the next tick the other player. Stock goes up to 25 for both players. As soon as one player leaves the shop, stock goes back to 50.

All shops with this logic are also limited to being open by only one account per IP/identity at a time.

Wilderness

From launch, Wilderness is set to P2P no god mage. After the weekend, a Wilderness cycle will be introduced, cycling between different rulesets.

Combat formula test

We have an overdue test of adjustments to the melee combat formula. Right now an adjustment that affects only the final chance roll is live, which should mean fewer 0s in combat. The new combat formula is available for testing in East Wilderness and Lumbridge (for staking). A forum thread will be opened for feedback, ongoing, no deadline.

Rebalancing NPC spawns and loot

Since server launch we have had adjustments to the drop tables and automatic training zone boosting to accommodate the large number of players in tight training zones. From today, the variable training zone boost is being retired. We will be adjusting drop tables and NPC counts to make training in the new available P2P spots more rewarding.

F2P and P2P NPC loot

When developing the P2P content we have taken an old clean database with close to replica drops. This drop table will be evolved and likely finalised tomorrow. This affects both F2P and P2P NPCs, because we want to change some numbers.

Drops are live and usable right now, so you can grind today, but what you see or get is subject to change. Adjustments will be forward-looking only, no rollbacks or compensation. When the drops are finalised, this news post will be updated.

Dragon items

The dragon medium helmet and the left dragon square shield part can be obtained by anyone killing the right NPCs, no quest needed to get the drop. Quest not needed to wear dragon medium.

The dragon longsword, dragon axe and dragon square shield drop from NPCs too, but a quest is required to wear them and receive them:

  • Dragon longsword: Lost City. - quest required to get drop.
  • Dragon axe: Hero's Quest. - quest required to get drop.
  • Dragon square shield: Legends' Quest. - quest required to get left half drop.

Drop sources:

  • KBD: dragon axe, dragon med, dragon sq parts.
  • Black Dragon, Black Demon, Fire Giant: dragon longsword, dragon axe, dragon med, dragon sq parts.
  • Shadow Warrior, Blue Dragon, Greater Demon, Red Dragon: dragon sq parts.
  • A few other NPCs also drop dragon sq parts, but the chance is extremely low.

World announcements happen when someone gets a dragon item drop from an NPC.

Fishing Trawler mini-game

The Fishing Trawler mini-game goes live with P2P. It has more generous rewards than replica and it collects a few fun statistics for the community:

  • Trips Survived: total trips you've completed without the boat going under. The grind board for trawler veterans.
  • Best Haul: your single largest fish haul ever brought back to shore. One godly trip is enough to top this one.
  • Perfect Trips: trips you finished with the boat almost dry (water under 15%). The skill flex for coordinated crews.
  • Comebacks: trips where the boat was almost lost (water hit 85% or higher) but you still made it home. Pure clutch.
  • Buckets Bailed: every bucketful of water you actually emptied (clicking a dry boat doesn't count, sorry).
  • Holes Patched: hull breaches you sealed with swamp paste. The unsung hero stat.
  • Nets Repaired: ripped nets you chopped and mended. Somebody's gotta do it.

Character sharing during the launch period

Our server offers lots of achievements and fun statistics for players to compete with each other. One area of feedback after the server launch was that account sharing is unfair when competing. We listened, and for roughly the first month or more of P2P (while max stats in the new skills are still being chased), we explicitly don't allow sharing characters between players for skilling activities. This applies to skilling only, not combat or PvP.

What this means: if we notice a character is training a skill like fletching and we are certain it is being trained by multiple persons, your character will be rolled back and training that skill will be disabled until the competition period is over.

If you use multiple devices to play, that is fine. From two months running the server we have a reasonably good understanding of who is playing where and how.

Still work in progress

Adding notes of things that are known issues or still in progress. Will update this list as work progresses or new issues pop up:

  • Fully corrected P2P drops: in progress.
  • P2P spawn locations: in progress.
  • Fully working agility shortcuts: in progress.
  • Thieving batching tuning: in progress.
  • Thieving high level NPC and chest loot: in progress.
  • Gnome ball: on hold.

See you on the other side of Taverley gates!

"The dragon longsword, dragon axe and dragon square shield drop from NPCs too, but a quest is required to wear them:"

does this mean, we need the quest to have the drops?

its not intuitive if so

For dragon items it needs clarification asap.

Quests are needed to get the drops, just like quest would be needed to buy them in the shop.

I understand there is a gate for getting items, but it's a nice grind that lot's of the player base will enjoy.

Have lovely weekend everyone!

Just like in RSC you could buy the weapon but you really cant here. So its just a barrier for people who hate questing, we have all done it too many times.
