big -1 and I see this as a much more dangerous idea than most would imagine

ive been a part of communities that have done this and observed others. people will start structuring things differently, compromising, putting out pandering lowest common denominator tier posts and then using the +/- counter as its own appeal to authority, other people stop engaging either out of disgust or fear, some good ideas and things that would get shared normally actually dont in this environment, list goes on and on

personally idgaf and will stay the same and eat -1s, whatever, but I know theres a slight majority that are not like this and will compromise themselves, and this is a bad problem and a bad culture to have. it also doesn't actually add anything, and people can +1/-1 as is and explain themselves which i think is much better

we already have enough problems on our plate, please avoid this one

-1 absolutely not. the reddit format is the worst possible imaginable system. it destroys the entire point of having a forum

What's the difference?

Maybe there is some confusion on what I am proposing. I simply meant give a post a like or dislike. I did not mean to put the post with the most votes on top or anything like that.
Nothing changes to the order of a thread, nothing gets hidden. Just thumbs up/down or like/dislike a post, so we can see how many people agree.

When I think up/down votes I think reddit. Rather it be like FB or Twitter if anything.
