Today we've released a server and client update with mostly bug fixes and a few new features.
Today's updates
Fixed
- Doors disappearing after use
- Some actions (e.g. drinking potions) being interrupted if you were in combat or had recently left combat
- Android camera movements not working when adjusting with volume buttons
- Boots being allowed to be worn with leg armour
- Al Kharid border guard right-click logic — if you have the gp in inventory or have completed Prince Ali Rescue, you'll now automatically walk through the gate
Added
- Option to have items spawned by the server remain visible regardless of your ground item settings. We had a lot of complaints about quest items going missing when it was actually just the player's client setting.
- ::togglekillfeed command to disable the kill feed without disabling global or PK chat
Changed
- Based on player feedback, removed the "committed " phrase from the kill feed when a player dies to an NPC shortly after combat with another player. Replaced with an array of fun phrases.
- Mining actions are no longer interrupted by combat. Since the last update they were being interrupted — we've reverted to the old behaviour.
On the week
Most of this week went into bug fixes, debugging, and working through the support ticket backlog. Not the most glamorous week of development, but a necessary one — a lot of small things adding up to a smoother experience. We still have quite a few unresolved tickets and will do our best to clear them soon.
Goal for next week
Next week I have more time IRL, so I'm expecting a faster pace on development and rolling out your suggestions.
Primary goal is to go through forums, support tickets that have suggestions, collect the best and most meaningful ones and put them up for a vote and community feedback in an organised fashion, just like we did for Wilderness topic.
In this questionnaire there will be questions regarding P2P release timeline and sharing ideas on how to give a fun twist to the P2P release. For example, there already was suggestion to have dragon items sold in shops - I think it's a great idea. What else should we do? Share your ideas on this dedicated thread.
Secondary goal is to work on return of staking, I have some big ideas, but I don't know if I will manage everything. I will try to release what I can before the start of the weekend for community enjoyment.
We hear your feedback
I've heard a few remarks that I'm not active enough on forums. I apologise for that and will work on having a better presence. There are lots of great suggestions and discussions happening on the forums, and even without mine or Terror's direct involvement, the conversations between players are valuable on their own — keep them going.
New content and features are still coming. Thanks for the patience, and thanks as always for the bug reports and suggestions via support tickets.
