Player numbers are dying and pking is obviously slowing down a lot... Are we still gonna pretend the majority player enjoys playing against acc sharing multi clienters when most of them are already quitting because of it?

Qol is supposed to make playing nicer not take away the fundamentals of a game so that players don´t even enjoy pking anymore. Jagex was totally right in making you able to play only 1 char in wild.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies to this thread, I see you're very passionate about the state of the wilderness, and I appreciate you taking the time to express your opinions.

First, on the 2IP change itself. After the server had been running a few days, the IP limit was the biggest issue raised by a large portion of players, especially those who aren't online as much as some of the hardcore players who can spin up and train multiple characters quickly. The concern was that without a change, the people you saw online at the beginning of the server would end up quitting.

I made the call to put it to a vote, and 70% of players wanted the change. That is a significant majority, and what it tells me is that a significant majority wants more fair fights. As it stands, the 2IP limit will remain in the immediate term.

That said, I do see players in this thread and elsewhere whose opinions may have shifted. Maybe a re-vote, maybe a skull-based limit, maybe something else. For any further wilderness changes, I want to use a proper process: gather ideas from the community, narrow them down to a few well-defined options, then put those options to a vote. That gives us better outcomes than reacting quickly to whichever group is loudest at any given moment.

Collecting data and suggestions

So here's what I'm going to do. In the next few days I'll open a dedicated suggestions thread on the forum specifically for wilderness ideas. Post your proposals there with as much detail as you can: what the change is, what problem it solves, what trade-offs you see. The more concrete the suggestion, the more likely it makes it onto the ballot. I'll read all of it. From the suggestions that get the most traction and make sense mechanically, I'll put together the options for the next vote. I'm aiming for that vote to happen within the next week or two, depending on how much good material comes in.

There won't be a solution that pleases everyone, and likely there won't be one wilderness area that pleases everyone either. We should explore ways to let players with multi-character PK skills have the fights they want to have, but without pushing away the playerbase that voted for 2IP. I get that there are players who find IP limits horrible, but the players who voted for them are real, and casual players in particular don't want unrestricted multi. If we don't attract and retain casual players, the playerbase will never grow.

I can't promise that what any individual player wants will be what we end up doing, but I will do my best to consider everything. The rule-set isn't fixed forever, it will evolve, it may even come full circle, but changes will be made methodically, with community involvement, and with well thought-out options.

1vs1 mode

To help the players who want more fair, potentially 1v1 fights, here's something I've started on that may take some pressure off in the meantime: an opt-in 1v1 mode. Players would be able to set their character to single-combat rules, enforced by the server itself. Anyone who played the last two seasons of Deadman should be familiar with how this works. The idea is that players who want guaranteed 1v1 fights can have them, while the wider wilderness rules stay as they are for everyone else.

Work on this is already in progress and plan to release it as an experimental change for the community to test and give feedback on before any new vote happens.

This mode is not a silver bullet to all issues, but it will likely make some of the server population more satisfied with the situation.

Thanks again for the patience.
